Weimaraners in South Africa

Welcome to the official website of the Weimaraner Klub of Gauteng, the only KUSA-affiliated Weimaraner club in South Africa.

The aim of the klub is to maintain and improve the quality of Weimaraners in South Africa by judicious breeding, tattooing of klub litters and issuing of klub pedigrees. To this effect a Breeding Committee evaluates dogs before they are used for breeding, all prospective klub matings should be approved by this committee. Since the klub’s inception members were encouraged to have their dogs x-rayed for hip dysplasia, with only HD free dogs or Grade I to an HD free partner being passed for breeding, and since January 1992, all Weimaraners are expected to comply with these regulations before a litter can be registered.

Klub members are encouraged to show their dogs at KUSA shows, and we also host our own Open and Championship show in February and August respectively

Also, since a Weimaraner is first off a working dog, the Klub hosts an annual Shooting Ratings test in June, with training sessions in the two months before that. Klub members, and indeed all interested Weimaraner owners are welcome to bring their dogs for training on the training Sundays, and also so the dogs can be tested for Retriever and Shooting ability at the Shooting Ratings

Lost Dogs Found in Somerset West

The two lost weimaraners that were found in Somerset West have been returned to their owners.

2 Dogs looking for a home on the West Coast

The 2 dogs which were abandoned at kennels on the West Coast have found a home! Thank you to one and all for the amazing response in finding them a ‘forever home’

Championship Show 2009

Thank you for everybody that attended our Championship Show, and all that entered their dogs. It was a tremendous success, and enough entries were received to be able to award a 2-point CC for the bitches.

Feedback on a Happy Orphan

Hello Linda and Chrystelle,

Jim and I are happy to confirm that Orphan now “Shadow” has settled in very well, is highly intelligent and overflows with energy and affection for all the dogs and humans on the farm.

She enjoys hunting for mice with the Yorkshire Terrier and has given our Max (10yr old Weimie) a new lease in life. This is just another confirmation why Weimie’s are such amazing dogs !

Thank you  Chrystelle, and your mum for helping us find such an adorable little girl.
