Hi. I also live in P.E. and I recently bought a Weimaraner puppy who had a list of problems from loose stools which progressed to blood in the stool, to bleeding from the eyes and nose, loss of weight, abscesses, etc. If the dog only has loose stools, it was recomended to feed him cooked rice and chicken breasts (removing the bones and skin). It does seem to work! In my dog's case things were worse, so she was given a diarrhea susspension too. As for the cat thing... I did read that the need to be introduced to them at a young age, since the are dogs used in the fields. Good luck! If i had more space or less dogs, I woud have jumped at the chance of adopting him! They are such Intelligent, giving dogs and great companions. As for my dog, she is now on cortizone tablets and doing much better, thanks to my vet in Algoa Park.

I am fostering a young (I think, perhaps one or two years old) Weim from Animal Welfare in Port Elizabeth. He's severely undernourished and I am just trying to get him fed up. I think I may have found a loving home for him in Johannesburg.
He has terribly loose stools and I'm hoping this will soon come to an end.
He has a lovely nature, very gentle, although he sees cats as a food source.

What is the best thing to feed him on?
Can I stop him from going for the cats?

Thanks.
